Human Ideology And Moral Conduct: An Ethical Aspect of Education

The term ‘Moral’ and ‘Ethics’ are closely related with each other. Meaning of these two terms is manners, customs and folkways. The moral conduct is very particular to man and is a simultaneous and progressive process, which passes through the mind, when we think of a particular line of action as being either right or wrong, Ethics is the science of morality, which gives an expository analysis of moral conduct, moral conduct is determined by the human ideology and is considered as the complete system of human ideology. Human ideology and moral conduct can be improved by a single means, called education. It is a real aim to make human life peaceful and happy.

Introduction

Morality is defined as the principles of ethical behavior deemed by society, culture, family, education, and religion. Each person is raised differently with very diverse experiences and has a unique definition of morality and ethical beliefs. Society is continuously changing its viewpoints and technological capabilities, ethics and morality is also changing accordingly, even if organizations such as religions try to make people believe that morality is constant. Basically, society changes whether we want it to or not. This is further proved that ethics and morality are and will always be imprecise, thus not truly definable. It can depend on which culture you live in, they are guide lines to doing the right thing also.

Morals, as defined pertaining to, or concerned with the principles or rules of right conduct or the distinction between right and wrong. Most people most likely define these terms as being right and good versus being evil and bad. When asked for further details of these definitions, the common man is unable to specify exactly what is good, right, moral, and ethical. However, this will most likely result in a discussion of examples of both ethical and unethical behavior without specifically defining these terms. Thus this paper discusses the ethical aspect of human ideology and moral conduct in the light of education.

Human Ideology and Moral Conduct

Moral conduct is the manner in which one decides to act morally. Moral conduct is a mood arousing good behavior with others by showing happy mien, nice wording, and kind manners. All virtues, however, cannot be true matters of admiration unless they are connected to moral conduct. On that account, moral conduct is the core and pivot of virtues. Moral conduct refers to that conduct which is related to a individual’s character and personality conforming to which is right and virtuous It reveals person’s self control, example- honesty, integrity, sense of responsibility, compassion etc.

In a series of evolutionary stages in the universe, man evident by is the final product. He has inner matter and focuses associated with it in the constitution of his physical body and in addition he is also endowed with consciousness with such a developed degree of potentiality that intellect with discrimination becomes his regulating element with which he decides himself right or wrong.

Human ideology is based upon social values and norms, and maintains the equilibrium of society with the help of basic values of moral conduct. Man is an essential valuing organism and can perceive the present and pre-determined pattern of reality. The concept of purushartha based on the realization that effectively constitutes the source of human ideology. The life of man centers on certain basis desires and purushartha explains what constitute the right way of living or what is generally referred to as ‘the good life’. Purushartha recognizes its four supreme ends, viz. Dharma (Righteousness), Arth (Wealth), Kaam (desire) and Moksha (Spiritual Freedom), which effects socio-cultural conditions and values, like: relevance for life is a value for great fundamental importance and it gives added meaning to the other values, like: social justice, democracy, environmental conservation, secularism, peace, social cohesion, gender equality etc. Utility of all Lives and Being is another important value, it is governed by the principle of unity in diversity. The Highest Good of man’s life is to realize this ultimate unity through one or many of the various paths which he can follows for the purpose. The principle ‘live and let live’ compels to think about the value of tolerance since the ancient times till today (Figure 1).

Human ideology in the Light of Education

Human ideology and moral conduct can be improved by a single means, called education. It is a real aim making human life peaceful and happy, ought to pay undeviated attention, special care and constant focus on thoughts, motives, attitudes, actions and finally values in the life of human being. The present educational system, with all its complexities and intricacies has proved to be deficient in so far as it neglects or does not give the deserving importance to values in the human life. Thus, human sufferings and sorrows are for ever on the increase in spite of the phenomenal explosion of knowledge. Values have become the neglected lot in the current educational system and consequently the maxim “Educational Changeth Man” ceases to be meaningful or has almost lost its value.

In inculcating values, all human faculties, such as head, heart and hand should play an important role. Thus Value Education covers the entire domains of learning (Cognitive, affective and Psychomoter). There is urgent need to improve pedagogical system with the help of following figure. When we try to inculcate highest good in the moral conduct of human ideology, we have to follow figure

Conclusion

Thus it can be concluded  that education is only the medium through which one can improve his moral conduct with balanced ideology. Ethics gives us a true moral insight, which is the essential condition of moral conduct.  So this is definitely true that Education without ethical norms is waste, Education without moral conduct is crime and Education without proper ideology is a life burden.
