Data Mining: An Effective Technique To Study Consumer Buying Behavior

In the industrial scenario the degree of success of the any Organization and the Manager’s job is measured by the ratio of Outputs to Inputs. Thus, this ratio becomes the indication of Organization’s Productivity. Hence, all managerial/administrative activities revolve around decision making. The manager is first and foremost a decision maker. As Managers have considered ‘Decision Making’ a pure art, a talent required for long period of the time through experience. A variety of individual styles could be used in analyzing a problem and finally solving successfully managerial problems. These managerial styles are often based on Creativity, Judgment, Intuition and experience rather than on systematic quantitative methods based on a scientific way. But in today’s situation business and its dynamics are rapidly changing and have become more complex than ever before. These changes in business world has wider impact on the managerial decision making process. Due to this situation, today decision making is more complicated than it was in the past. It is more difficult to make decisions for several reasons. Harbridge House (a Boston Firm) has conducted a survey, and ranked Clear-cut decisions needed as the most important of 10 management practices. As the trends are changing, it is very difficult to rely upon trial and error approach to management, in case of decision is unstructured and semi-structured decision making situations. Managers must learn sophisticated, new tools and techniques. Using these technological tools such as Data Mining, its mostly hot- cake in today’s managerial decision process. ... Read more

Sequential Pattern Extraction From Server Access Logs Using Plpc-Tree Algorithm

This contribution concerns mining frequent sequential patterns on click stream data applications contend with many challenges such as limited memory for unlimited data. Existing work on mining frequent patterns on data streams are mostly for non-sequential patterns and mines the frequent sequences from the WAP-tree by recursively re-constructing intermediate trees, starting with suffix sequences and ending with prefix sequences. This paper proposes an algorithm that uses data structure PLPC-tree to handle the complexities of mining frequent sequential patterns in data streams by totally elimination of numerous re-construction of intermediate WAP-trees during mining. The proposed algorithm constructs the tree while finding frequent individual events and then builds the frequent header node links of the original WAP-tree in an ordered fashion and uses the position code of each node to identify the ancestor/descendant relationships between nodes of the tree. It then, finds each frequent sequential pattern, through progressive prefix sequence search, starting with its first prefix subsequence event. Experiments show good performance gain over the WAP-tree technique. ... Read more

Civil Development Project Cost Assessment By Neural Network With Genetic Algorithm

Cost assessment is most important part when new civil development is start. If cost assessment is not correct then project may not complete within a budget. So many times budget is over and development is stopped. To solve this problem we are using the concept of neural network and genetic algorithm, and designing a model by which we can assess the cost of any civil project very efficiently. In this paper we are using Back propagation Method of Neural Network and Genetic Algorithm. Back propagation method will give some solution of problem and our genetic algorithm will give the optimize solution. During the process of development cost assessment, back propagation neural network has a very powerful application. Genetic algorithm optimizing back propagation has been proposed to aim at handling locality minimum and low convergence speed. The method based on analyzing the basic fundamental states that how to use genetic algorithm to improve the ability of back propagation. After optimizing, the Genetic Algorithm Back Propagation model has been built up. So many project cases and some testing samples are put into the model to observe generalize ability. The result of Genetic Algorithm Back Propagation model can get lower forecast error and iterations. For these reason, Genetic Algorithm Back Propagation model is appropriate for construction cost assessment. ... Read more
